Let’s start with showing you how NOT to devein a shrimp, which I quickly learnt on my first attempt lol…

Do NOT try to devein shrimp with the shell on…

… you will get the digestive track out but…

… a shell-on technique may cause you to accidentally mutilate the shrimp…

… finally, do NOT attempt removing the gooey stuff with your fingers, it’s gooey lol

Now let’s focus on the RIGHT WAY to devein a shrimp…

DO remove the shell starting from the legs…

… please DO save the shells for making stock later…

… gently run the knife along the centre-back of the shrimp, creating a shallow incision…

… carefully scrap sideways to remove the now visible digestive track…

… most people ignore the vein on the underside of the shrimp but I advice that you DO remove it just as you remove the digestive track on the back…

… rinse and there you have it, clean shrimp as cute as a button :-D

Now it’s time to make SHRIMP STOCK!!! *such a food nerd lol*

This process is a easy as 1-2-3 (literally)…

… boil shrimp shells in water until they’re bright red…

… strain and use. the end.

Now you have the prefect base for Cinnamon-Swimps Fried Rice :-D
